Matt Trowbridge rose05 Named First-Team Academic All-American

Triangle senior Matt Trowbridge rose05 was named to the 2007 Academic All-American soccer team.

Trowbridge becomes the first men's soccer player in school history to earn first-team Academic All-American accolades. Matt is a civil engineering senior.

He also completes his career as the second two-time Academic All-American in school history after earning third-team honors in 2006. Mark Schultz previously earned second and third-team recognition in 1989 and 1990.

Trowbridge earned the 69th Academic All-America award in Rose-Hulman history and captured the seventh award for the Fightin' Engineer soccer program. The Engineers have achieved five Academic All-American awards in soccer since 2003.

Trowbridge also helps Rose-Hulman continue its tradition of excellence in the Academic All-America program, as at least one Fightin' Engineer student-athlete earned the honor for 22 consecutive years.

This season, Trowbridge earned Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference co-Most Valuable Player honors after leading the conference with 21 goals and 47 points. His totals, which included 10 more goals than any player in the HCAC this season, rank 11th among all NCAA Division III players this season.

Trowbridge completed his career with 45 goals and 110 points to rank second in Rose-Hulman history in both categories. His efforts have helped the Engineers achieve a 39-16-4 record over the past three seasons, including a pair of second-place finishes in the HCAC.
